Skënder Gjinushi hold, since October 2019, holds the position as the President of the Academy of Sciences of Albania. He is an Albanian academician, mathematician and politician. He graduated in in Mathematics at the University of Tirana and completed his postgraduate studies in Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris. He is the founder and former leader of the Social Democratic Party of Albania. He has been a member of the Albanian Parliament in1992 and since then some of his positions have included being the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Parliament of Albania from July 24, 1997 to September 4, 2001. Acad. Gjinushi was a lecturer in the mathematics department, Faculty of Natural Sciences ,University of Tirana.
